So it worked for me one or two days ago and I thought it got mysteriously fixed without an update, but now it's broken again (for all servers I tried). Is there some central place where the request goes before being sent to the actual instance? This is really weird and annoying. |
Do you have some Dns based network filters or something similar in place? |
I use Netguard app (VPN) and in Tusky I use a proxy on localhost (Tor/Orbot). But I tried without VPN and proxy, via wifi, via mobile. No difference. I managed to get screenshots of the error page that shows up in he background for a tiny moment, and it says (translated from German) Website not available |
Yes something causes the page to fail loading and then Tusky closes the window because it can't proceed. We need to find what that something is. It is not a general problem with mastodon.social oder pixelfed.de because they both work for me. |
I have no problem accessing the (partial without all parameters) url in my browser (getting redirected to https://instance.url/auth/sign_in for web signin) so it does not seem to be a general problem with my connection. |
I forgot to mention there is no problem adding an account in fedilab. I reach the sign in page as expected. |
I fixed the problem by uninstalling the app and reinstalling it... |
Thanks for that. I did not want to but now did the same now. I was able to set up all four accounts. |

I deleted one of my accounts in Tusky because push messages did not work (stream did not show up in ntfy), and when I tried to add the account again, the problem came back. Impossible to add account. Deleted Tusky again, installed again and the unified push stream showed up in ntfy. Looks like something is broken regarding multiple accounts in Tusky. BTW before I deleted Tusky again I had a nonexisting phantom extra account in the notification settings. If there is a way to install a second test version next to my regular Tusky version I am happy to try stuff to shed more light on the issue, otherwise I can only add info if the problem shows up again, not planning to add more accounts though. |
FWIW the problem is still there in 20 RC 2 from fdroid. I have not seen it in the nightly from Google but only tried once and my account setup is not identical. |
@sl1txdvd do you have some sort of proxy you're configuring in the application? If so, if you configure the proxy, kill the app, then restart the app, and try again, does it work? |
No. Also I am using the nightly since the edit feature went in and can't add another account now. It basically works once when the client is freshly installed for as many accounts as I try and later it's impossible to add anything. |
With 3165 merged I can successfully add accounts via the "Login with browser" option while the regular way does not work. I consider my problem solved. Thanks a lot! It's still odd that the standard way works with a fresh installation but stops later on. So I'm not sure if the bug should be closed or stay open? |
Workaround added in #3165 |
When I try to add another (already existing) account, I enter the domain name and the result is "Die Anmeldeseite konnte nicht geladen werden" (can't load the login or register page). I tried several existing instances.
Tusky Version: 19 (f-droid)
Android Version: LineageOS 19
Mastodon instance (if applicable): tried mastodon.social, mastodon.xyz, pixelfed.de
I searched or browsed the repo’s other issues to ensure this is not a duplicate.
