In this case Bootstrap is scaling images to fit the horizontal space available and the vertical space turns out to be whatever it does after the scaling. Thus as the images load the page reflows multiple times.
Is there any way I can inform the browser of what the image sizes are ahead of time so my site doesn't jiggle around like Anandtech?
