data-export has never been implementedfor NewsReaderPortlet. It's import/export code is very similar to Calendar Portlet. The export is missing a file similar to https://github.com/Jasig/CalendarPortlet/blob/master/src/main/resources/org/jasig/portlet/calendar/io/export-PredefinedCalendars.crn.xml
