Yes, there is plan to support this feature in a decoupled way so an option can enable/disable it. Merge feature adds a higher level of complexity we don't want to mix with the standard table. |

The current table plugin does not really support merged cells in tables. You can create them in the initial state, but pasting in tables with merged cells does not display them as expected. There is no way (that I've found) to merge cells once in the editor. Is there any plan to support this feature?
