Description
Going to just reference issue #7 over at ProseMirror.

Every editor seems to call their hovering selection tooltip something between “hovering toolbar”, “tooltip”, “bubble menu”, “balloon toolbar”, but they seem to be the same functional feature. I cannot seem to find what the iOS tooltip is called.

In the case of Plate, you are able to tap the selection another time to make the iOS selector go away. So it’s not impossible to use the Balloon Toolbar, just bad UX.

Steps
Again, just taking from the ProseMirror issue, because it’s the same case ↓

Custom tooltip

Great comparison! The balloon toolbar has direction option to set it to bottom. Many editors disable it on mobile in favor of a fixed one, like github or notion image
