This will better follow https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria-practices/#alertdialog

The UNL Alert widget currently has a role of alert as opposed to alertdialog. This is a better fit because it "displays a brief, important message in a way that attracts the user's attention without interrupting the user's task" (emphasis mine). In other words, it's not a modal. An alert requires only a role of alert.
