It should be trivial to add Favorites support to this app (i.e. export favorites as another RSS feed), the question is whether anybody needs it. if so, please 👍 this post, also I would be interested to hear why you don't use bookmarks instead.

I don't know about "needs," but I would like to have a Favorites feed...

  • I use bookmarks as a "read-it-later" indicator. Might be a long read, or work-relevant technical stuff. I don't know if it's a favorite or not yet.
  • I use Favorites as quick feedback on something I like or appreciate, but is not a high priority to revisit. I would occasionally like to scan my Favorites for a remembered meme or quote, etc.

@toddz262 given your comment in #5, are you able to fulfill this usecase if the rss feed is limited?

Ah, good point. I was kind of imagining a lazy, browseable archive. Many feeds I follow seem to scroll back forever, but it makes sense to limit the feed & avoid burdening indie fedi servers. Given that Mastodon doesn't export Favorites, I should probably just revise my habits and bookmark the gems for export.
