Here's what happened:

pier: serf unexpectedly shut down

I should have written:

~>  %bout.0^'foo'  ~

instead of

~>  %bout^'foo'  ~

I would have expected this to just ignore the malformed hint, or at worst kill the Arvo event. I don't think it should cause the pier to shut down.
