MECCG Set Editor: Getting Started

Installation

For best results, clone the repo using GitHub to a folder on your computer. This will ensure you can easily sync the latest changes to the Game and Style files, and any new templates I add.

Simply launch the application from that folder.

  • There is a zip file of meccg fonts, make sure you extract that and install any that you don't have.

If you are manually downloading: when there is a new version of the data folder, you will want to delete ALL contents of the data folder and replace them with the new contents. If you are cloning the repo, simply use GitHub to sync the latest changes.

Zoom and Display

On first launch, make sure to set your zoom preferences. I find that 66% works best - but 50% is good also. Edit - Preferences - Display. Make sure to leave "Use zoom and rotation settings when exporting" UNCHECKED

Basics: Styles and Set Options

There are four main styles at the moment: Remastered, Remastered Challenge, and Classic (Upscaled versions of the old templates - with minor improvements), and the Full Art style from Chan.

Upon launching, check out the "Set Info" tab. Here you will find a bunch of options. Set Info Tab

The first section covers:

  • Name: the Set Name
  • Author: your name or names
  • Notes: Any miscellaneous information

Following Sections are options:

  • Challengedeck: Used to assign the Challenge Deck letter for Challenge Deck styles
  • Symbol: Sets the Rune in the lower right for Set Identification
  • NEW - Card icon: Choice of images for Card Icons in lower right. (Several available - to use Custom, open the "meccg.mse-game/card-icons/icon_custom.png file with Photoshop or GIMP. Add your icon and save the file over existing icon_custom.png.
  • Copyright: Set the value of the Copyright Line at the bottom of the card
  • Border Color: Choose the Card Frame Border Color from selection or specify a custom color.
  • Automatic Card Numbers: Places card numbers on the bottom right of the card. Format is 001/100. Numbering is Automatic
  • Mark errors: Enable Spell Check filters and Auto-Replacement Scripts for Cards
  • Card language: Set the language dictionary for Spell Checking
  • Export Values: Specific to GCCG Export users - disregard

Card Options

  • There are two types of cards for either Diagonal Style Prowess and Body, or Horizontal Prowess and Body
  • Clicking on the frame of the card will expand the dropdown to choose the Card Type
  • For Influence values, clicking on the Influence icon will allow you to choose to add Brackets to it
  • Stage Cards (Fallen Wizard) have Stage Points as well - click the fields in the Left Bar of the card
  • For Fallen Wizard specific cards, click on the space with the Celtic Knot - this will expand a dropdown to set the correct icon
  • NEW - Promo Card: Added dropdown to set ICE Promo Icon on a per-card basis.

Card Image

  • Due to the resolution of the set, the Image Editor window view is currently odd and squished.
  • At this time, I recommend that you have the artwork already cropped to make it easier. (Don't use a full card image and try to crop it)

Exporting Cards

  • You can easily export cards using the File - Export - Card Image / All Card Images options
  • The default format is PNG.
  • Cards will export at 750x1050 at 300dpi
  • It takes a minute to export multiple cards - if it says it is not responding, just wait. It's still exporting and will finish and go back to normal when done.

Special Words

  • Typing words like "nazgul" or "dunadan" will automatically replace them with the correct formatting and characters

Site and Region Symbols

  • All icons are fully supported
  • To insert icons, type the bracketed code (see image below for the key)
  • In normal card Text Boxes, all Site and Region icons are enclosed in Brackets as well. So use double brackets there for proper formatting: d, D, etc Site and Region Icons
