Parts in the F-BOMB:

  • Raspberry Pi, Model A.
  • USB Hub: I usually use the Monoprice USB 2.0 4-Port Cube.
  • USB Y-Cable: I usually use this Monoprice one. The thin end goes to power, the thick end goes to the Pi (and backpowers the Pi), the long end goes to the USB Hub.
  • An 8GB, at least Class 10, SD Card. (Nicer cards are nicer, but if you'd like your F-BOMB to give you results this week, get a Class 10 minimum.)
  • USB WiFi: I use an RT3370, but if you want to get much better gain for not a huge amount more money, use an ath9k card like the TP-Link WN-722n. DO NOT USE AN RTL8192. They don't have monitor mode on Linux drivers. The RT3370 is the only chipset I've managed to find that's both tiny and supports monitor mode (let alone Master/Injection modes), but the ath9k is ridiculously well-supported---it's just a lot bigger in implementations. (If someone has an ath9k the size of the RT3370, let me know.)
  • Case: I use a custom case for my F-BOMBs---you can get them at http://store.maliceafterthought.com/f-bomb-case-only/---but if you don't want that, then you can put the F-BOMB in whatever's close to hand.
