What happened?

# sh VentoyPlugson.sh /dev/sdc
Ventoy version in Disk: 1.0.64
Disk Partition Style : MBR
Secure Boot Support : YES
/dev/sdc1 is mounted at /run/media/yk/monikäynnis exfat

At Global Control Plugin ==> VTOY_DEFAULT_SEARCH_ROOT, setting the mountpoint as path causes the message "Invalid directory path (...)". May the lack of support for UTF covering Scandinavian characters be the cause?

In your case /dev/sdc1 is mounted at /run/media/yk/monikäynnis.
So the default search root is already the mountpoint.
So you can not set the mountpoint as the search root.
That is to say, if you set /run/media/yk/monikäynnis you will get this error.
You can set for example /run/media/yk/monikäynnis/ISO

Statement in document "By default, Ventoy will search all the directories and subdirectories in the USB.". I might have wasted your time. I should had interpreted "in the USB" as "at the mountpoint of the volume's first partition.". That statement may be worth a complementary mention in document, such as: "Note: the path must not be the mountpoint of the first partition, but a subdirectory."
