Also happens here.
I know they added secure boot in version 8.1. Don't know if it could be something to do with that?

@aktentasche

Same here, tried to enable secure boot but I just get a black screen eight after the boot screen. Went "bare metal" instead and that works with secure boot enabled.

found a small workaround via the ventoy website about secure boot - the page itself is outdated but you can navigate your way through finding a solution with this method with trial and erorr.

There is a screen that will appear called "enroll MOK" you can, as the gifs on the site kind of exaplain" enroll ventoy in the MOK thing and will allow you to boot into your ventoy stick.

I chose the first option "enroll" however you need to select VENTOY to find the file that you see in the gif on the link above. If its not in that specific location then keep looking around for either location.

From reading other blogs about PCIE passthrough and enrolling other devices in MOK once youve done this once you dont need to do it again.

Worked for me. Curious if there is an ETA when this will be released into an official release version?

Hi all,

I had the same problem and CI release (12041513) solved the problem. Also the new release (1.0.97 atm) works like a charm.
Thx for the bugfix.

Can ventoy also boot proxmox from a UEFI zfs raw disk?
Is this issue only affecting the initial iso setup or also raw boot of installed proxmox?

Or that is a question for https://github.com/ventoy/vtoyboot project?

My installation on on top of debian so likely would hit this: ventoy/vtoyboot#76

@Quadrubo

I have just confirmed this is fixed by updating my ventoy to the latest release v1.0.97. As it is release here this issue can be closed.

proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso starts successfully with Ventoy v1.0.97 (while v1.0.95 couldn't). Installation was fine in text mode.

UEFI, test environment: Lenovo ThinkPad X140e.

The issue can be closed.

(proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso using ventoy-1.0.97-linux.tar.gz)

Same issue but now resolved.
Using nomodeset workaround with GT 710 nvidia card and Ryzen 3700X.
Multiple failed attempts, finally update ventoy to ventoy-1.0.97-linux.tar.gz
Boot into proxmox-ve_8.1-2.iso, select install via terminal UI mode, success!
Graphical UI mode still fails.
Was having a weird issue with my keyboard registering multiple keypresses in the proxmox grub menu, but only if I used a balenaEtcher/rufus "bare metal" burned USB drive. Resolved by resetting to optimized defaults in aorus bios.

resolved with 1.0.97

@darkknight7777777

Should probably note that you have to delete, then re-add the iso to ventoy, simply updating ventoy doesn't fix the issue. At least it didn't for me
