A line-initial hyphen makes the line a bulleted list.

Why not? Is it best to stick to ASCII? If so, I suppose an alternate course would be:

services for ttys 1 to 6. This way, package updates which affect these services -
in this case, the `runit-void` package - won't re-enable them.

lowdown doesn't create a list here, I guess the bug is with cmark (or lowdown isn't following the spec).

@Vaelatern an em-dash is the correct punctuation to use in that spot, the main issue is that it isn't trivial to input, and should be used all across docs if we switch.
