libselinux is needed to make a lot of MATLAB's menus work properly.
These templates seem to build correctly but I'm not sure if there's a better way to do the installation than manually moving files after make install

shouldn't MATLAB have an option to disable selinux ?

we don't even support SELinux, just AppArmor

It doesn't have an option like that as far as I can tell.
libselinux is required for their browser based addon manager and various other menus.

The official fix seems to just be to install libselinux

the official "fix" isn't a fix, it is a workaround to what i assume is a proprietary application.

Sorry but i don't feel like adding libraries to a security mechanism we don't even support just so a proprietary application can work.

You will have to find another maintainer willing to merge this

Does it interfere with anything if it would be kept it in the repo or is it a philisophical/emotional reason?
The library is required for MATLAB to function properly but either way, whoever needs it can merge this commit to their system and install it as if it would have been merged.
Aslong as they find this pull request.
