We need a good base set of tests to be confident in the quality of our code, and to help when refactoring and making changes:

unit tests (see Testing 1/3: Add a bunch of unit tests #135)
acceptance tests (in progress - Testing 2/3: Acceptance test framework #142)
interface tests - unit tests for things that download/read/etc. using Traits
smoke tests (see Smoke tests for basic workflows #162)
