Ripped off http://rastergrid.com/blog/2010/09/efficient-gaussian-blur-with-linear-sampling/ for a faster gaussian blur (up to 2x, typically ~1.5x). I haven't replaced the existing one as I don't know whether this technique is supported on all (mobile) hardware.
