MacOS 11, Chrome 91, vue@3.1.1

Steps to reproduce

Create a dropdown with sub menus and try to open it.
The docs example should fail in 2.2.0-beta.3

What is expected?

Expected to see the menu

What is actually happening?

Got error Uncaught (in promise) TypeError: Cannot read property 'appendChild' of undefined
