Script Setup - Class constructor [class] cannot be invoked without 'new'

I noticed this error when migrating from <script> to <script setup> when importing class definitions.

Class constructor MyClass cannot be invoked without 'new'

Is this expected?
Because on regular <script> I am able to do this, here is the playground with regular script.

This seems to be a bug in the the compiler:

// this _unwrap() added by the compiler makes this code invalid
_ctx.$emit('myclick', new _unref(TestClass)())
