The fact that this happens in telegram-cli too, suggests that its a bug in libtgl, so I'm reporting this bug here too.

There should be an optional delete. Not being able to authenticate should not force the client or library to re-register the device. An attacker could poison the connection to cause this state to happen and force remove the authentication key and 'watch' the negotiation happen again. This is a more conservative approach ( and paranoid).
