it's unclear what is the meaning of this sentence. Could someone please clarify the sense of the sentence and the appropriate translation for 版面 (bǎnmiàn)?

This is almost a duplicate of #56. 版面 in my understanding refers to the whole area that contains text, not only the main body but also header, footer, page number, etc. I'm not sure what's the term in English though.

體裁 in Traditional Chinese directly maps to 体裁 in Simplified Chinese. In English it's something more similar to scheme or arrangement. It means somewhat less exacting than template (which may map to 模板). Again I'm unfamiliar with English typesetting terms and these are just my understanding from dictionary.

Depending on the context, “基礎排版體裁” may translate as “the basic grid” or “the basic page format (see at 2.1.3)”.

And I prefer to rephrase it in SC, maybe “基础版面网格” or “基本页面格式”. I consider “體裁” basically means format, styles, or appearances.
