Please give examples, use cases, categories and business cases for how a combination of Fixed + Reflow and good methods for how those might work. If there are business cases for what content experiences could be improved or what content could be added by having support will be useful.

Basic file requirements:

  • should be able to support designating that a page is left/right or either
  • should include accessibility features for both the FXL and reflow pages
  • should ensure that the viewport/aspect ratio is consistent on all FXL pages

Basic rs desires:

  • should allow for font resize/change to be applied to reflow pages, but not FXL
  • should allow for pagination to adjust and not display on the FXL pages
  • should allow for running heads to display on the reflow, but not FXL pages
  • should allow for the viewport/aspect ratio of the FXL page to guide the aspect ratio of the reflow pages so that they are a consistent match

I wonder about the user experience here. Seeing all the reflow pages letterboxed might be suboptimal.

Here is a quick sample of types of books - FXL+Reflow_EPUB.pdf

It would be interesting to discuss the requirements vs the flexibility required by the reflow pages, if paginated. In the sample below, I tried to represent a reflow resource followed by an FXL resource (in green), followed by another reflow resource.
If the "screen size" is changed (modelized by a change in the position of "page" limits), the FXL page 6 is now page 5. In this case a constraint on the left or right position of the FLX page is not sustainable.
