Only the Images ED has image-rendering. For now, SVG2 has the normative definition.

Hmm, I thought that spec was further along. Inkscape supports 'pixelated', (this is pretty important as using 'optimizespeed' for this is quite a hack) and is interested in 'crisp-edges'. (Although it's not obvious how to support 'crisp-edges' for non-integer scale factors.)

There is already some browser support for 'pixelated' and 'crisp-edges', but not 'smooth' or 'high-quality'.

Implementations can use the new values without SVG 2 having a normative dependency on Images 4.
