Query on WCAG 2.2.2 - Focus Indicator Animation

Hi Team,

I have a question regarding WCAG 2.2.2.
I have noticed that while navigating using the keyboard tab key, the focus indicator falls on the navigation elements.
The focus indicator appears as a blinking animation for the element.

My question is, will this blinking focus indicator animation be considered a failure of 2.2.2 pause, stop and hide? Additionally, can we consider the focus indicator appearance as animation here since it only appears on the keyboard tab focus?

What I see is not blinking but a slow and minor expansion and contraction of the circular overlay focus. Technically yes it seems this can be considered animation. The animation certainly attracts attention to the navigation (and may therefore be distracting) but that will usually be short-lived since anyone moving focus there is likely to pick a menu item and then move on to something else. So if seems a very minor violation to me, if any... To be on the safe side, to meet 2.2.2 you would want the focus animation on the element to stop after 5 sec latest.

possibly also worth considering that the SC is concerned with animations "is presented in parallel with other content" - the example above would potentially only be distracting if a user sets focus on one of those, but then continues using/reading/navigating (with scroll wheel perhaps) through the page while keeping focus there. (ah, re-reading detlev's answer, he already hints at this)
