I know this is pretty minor, but the best practice guidelines for an SC includes "Avoid jargon and unnecesarily complex language"
I feel that "Linearization" should be renamed to "Single Column".
When I google the word, I just get "In mathematics linearization refers to finding the linear approximation to a function at a given point. In the study of dynamical systems, linearization is a method for assessing the local stability of an equilibrium point of a system of nonlinear differential equations or discrete dynamical systems.", which means nothing for our context.
While I personally understand the meaning, I'm thinking of developers that maybe have English as a second language, or just those that are dyslexic etc.

You can probably tell from #58 that it started off as 'reflow to single column'. We ran into a lot of issues with people assuming it was asking for an on-screen widget that enables the linearise function.
Based on that, I suggested renaming it to something that described the end result rather than the feature.
I don't mind which it is, but it seems like we might just be swapping one misunderstanding for another?
Ah I see. Maybe the use of the "Support" prefix would be a useful standard to set for the SC titles if an on-screen widget is not required, so that in this case it would be "Support Reflow to Single Column", just as we have "Support Personalization".
This would also suggest a rename of 1.4.13 (#76) to "Support Printing", for example.
Recommend this issue be closed as the Linearization SC did not reach working group consensus and thus will not be in 2.1. Much of the desired content requirements, however, are covered by the Zoom Content SC.
@FionaHolder As with your other comment on Linearization, we would appreciate your review of the new SC "Zoom Content" https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/#zoom-content - there is no longer an SC with the name "linearization".
