Hi there,

I've recently updated my phone to Android KitKat and the soft menu has disappeared from the app (the one for settings and purge DB). Thanks to a backup application (Titanium Backup) I could restore my settings but I cannot modify them neither purge the DB so my reading list is growing despite I do read a lot :)
I could reproduce the bug on my wife's phone also on KitKat.

Anybody has the same issue and a possible a workaround ?

Hi,
I installed the app directly with KitKat, so I don't know how it goes with the migration.
It may be my fault, though. I changed the name of the app on the Play Store (from In The Poche to wallabag, even though nothing else has yet changed) and maybe your phone was confused.

About the missing menu situation, now. My phone has virtual action buttons, so the "old" soft menu has been added at bottom right. I guess yours and your wife's have physical ones and this doesn't work.

I'm sad to say there is no immediate solution other than searching the web to emulate (some way or another) this button. We will try to provide an quick update putting the button under the two other ones so that you can access the settings page again. But as the original dev from the app is no longer active, I've no idea how long this can take.
And yes, we definitely want to make a truly big update with KitKat compatibility, and trying to bring all functionalities we currently miss.

Finally, you say your reading list is growing, but it's not a bug, it's a feature... being absent. Hitting "Mark as read" on an article only make him read in your phone, not on the remote server. That's because we have currently no API, and there is huge changes to make into wallabag before this is possible. :(

I'll come back to you when the android app will be updated.

Hi,
You exactly pointed out my issue : I do not have this virtual action bar but I have the "back", "home" and "tabs" buttons directly on my phone. By the way I am not running a stock ROM but a Cyanogen one so the issue may also come from this. As you suggest I will try to emulate the last menu button which is missing. I will comment here if I find an appropriate workaround.
I know about this "missing feature" and the missing API but that's absolutely not an issue for me as far as I can read offline :)

I'm running Cyanogen too.

OK I've found a workaround for Cyanogen (and possibly others) : in parameters / buttons I've set up the home button so that a double tap will force the menu. It works quite well :)

I personally don't have this option in my phone. CyanogenMod version 11-20140405

Good to know though. Have you got a link to a howto ? I would like to add something in the documentation about this issue until things get fixed.

I cannot find a link with the exact how to, I combined information from multiple posts to get to this.
By the way I can explain it clearly. I am running the same CyanogenMod as yours (11-20140405_Snapshot_M5) so I guess you or anyone running Cyanogen 11 has these options provided that you have physical buttons. The example below assumes that you want to open the menu when double tapping the home button:

1 - go to "parameters"
2 - scroll down to "buttons"
3 - go to "hom button" section the "double tap" option
4 - choose the "open/close menu" action

That's it !

You can also link this "menu" action to any combination of button and long/short/double tap.

En français :
1 - Aller dans le menu "paramètres"
2 - Choisir l'option "boutons"
3 - Aller à la section "bouton accueil" puis choisir l'option "appui double"
4 - Fixer le paramètre à "ouvrir/fermer le menu"

Thanks a lot. Will add a note to the documentation.
