I created a phyloseq object as you mentioned in the documentation. But wheneve I run TaxaNorm_Normalization, I am getting
Error in fit$converged : $ operator is invalid for atomic vectors error. Kindly check

The error is caused from the optim() function when estimating the parameters using EM. We haven't encountered this problem in our analysis, but we'll check and made some suggestions in the newer package version.
Currently, I assume it only happens for some rare features, and since TaxaNorm is independent for each feature, you could try different filtering before running TaxaNorm.
