Monterey detects Variable Refresh Rate displays and depending on configuration tends to auto-select VRR. Even when the user select a non-VRR mode, sometimes after sleep or becuase of some unrelated display reconfiguration the system restores VRR.
This is a problem for cheaper displays with less convinfing Freesync implementations with no ability turn it off on the display OSD.
A feature could be added to auto-switch to the corresponding Fixed mode from VRR mode whenever VRR mode is engaged.
The opcion could be added as a tool under real displays.
