I can log in if i go to account.samsung.com - but if i try to log in via the Samsung Wear application while Nightly is set as my default browser I get this. Same issue from Samsung Health app.

Switching default browser to Chrome resolves the issue.

Accessing the link you have provided, gives the same error regardless of the browser used. On your screenshot I see that you pasted that link from the clipboard. Are you trying to login using that link directly?

samsung

If not please try on a clean profile, clear cache and cookies and disable the addons if you use any and give us an update.

I tried Firefox Beta which has never been used and has no addons (I usually use Nightly) and can duplicate this. I cannot duplicate it on Firefox stable, however, so it is likely some kind of very strict user-agent sniffing that doesn't allow Beta or Nightly.

Again I'm not trying to access it via a link I can provide - I'm doing so from the Samsung Wear or Samsung Health apps which launch the browser directly and do not provide a link that can be copied to my clipboard to share here. It instantly redirects me to the link I gave originally. The only way to duplicate it would be for you to install Samsung Wear or Samsung Health and try to log in with those with Firefox Beta or Nightly set as your default browser in Android.

I tried connecting to Samsung Health App but I was not redirected to any browser, the authentication process was made completely on the app. Unfortunately we do not dispose of a Samsung Smart Watch, is the authentication process initiliased through the Smart Watch?

Please provide a screen record on how you've reproduced the issue.

Maybe because you were already logged in or had a Samsung account loaded into the phone already? I made a video but can't upload 90MB here due to size limits. Process is simple though, remove any Samsung accounts from phone and then try to log in with Health app while Firefox Nightly or Beta is configured as your primary browser.

This is being done on a Google Pixel 7 Pro if that matters

This is exactly what I did. I removed the Samsung account, I even tried with a new account, the result was the same. Firefox Nightly was also set as a default browser.

If you want you can send the video at ctanase@mozilla.com via Google drive.

Thanks for the video. Apparently this happens only on non-samsung devices because normally on a Samsung device you wouldn't get redirected when trying to sign in.

I was able to reproduce this issue on my Pixel 5 as well:

Samsung.Health.app.sing.in.mp4

How to reproduce:

  • Preconditions:
  1. Non-Samsung Device
  2. Samsung Health App downloaded from the Play Store
  3. Firefox Nightly set as a default browser
  • Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open the Samsung Health App.
  2. Tap on Sign in.
  3. Observe the behaviour.

Tested on:
• Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 111.0a1-20230131093335 / Firefox Release 109.0-20230112150232 / Chrome 109.0.5414.86
• Operating System: Google Pixel 5 (Android 13) - 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~432 ppi density)

Notes:

  1. Reproducible on Firefox Nightly
  2. Not reproducible on Firefox Release and Chrome
