We appreciate your report. I was not able to reproduce the issue following the steps to reproduce. Text composed inside a mail is deleted as expected.

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Release 124.0 (64-bit)
Operating System: Ubuntu 22.4 LTS x64

Suggestion: Try clearing cache/data/cookies, disabling add-ons and Ad-blocker (if available) and extensions or use a clean profile, and check again? If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config) please revert to the default settings and try again. Also, have the required cookies been accepted for this page?

Hi, text composed inside a mail is deleted, but I can't say "as expected". It's VERY... VERY slow...

I've been forced to downgrade to 123.0.1. IMO it's not usable.

I was testing disabling addons, using a privacy window, creating a new firefox profile, removing and reinstalling... and the problem persists.

I was able to reproduce the problem on different computers (always linux and mainly ubuntu 22.04).

The only workaround I found was to downgrade.

@sv-calin Can you take a look, please?

What I would do usually to test this kind of issue, is:

  1. Type about:profiles in the url bar.
  2. Choose Create a new profile.
  3. Call it deleteme or anything you please.
  4. Then start it. (this way you will be sure that nothing is interfering, no ghost caching etc.)- make sure account sync is not performed, as the extensions will be imported in the new profile.
  5. Test.

Note: You can return to your old profile at any given time by accessing "about:profiles" in the address bar

I was not able to reproduce this issue. I was able to delete the text at normal speed. Please try on a new profile without syncing any data as Raul suggested above.

Tested on:
• Browser / Version: Firefox Release 124.0.1
• Operating System: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

I created a fresh profile and I am still seeing the slow repeated keypress issue.

Tested on:

  • Firefox 124.0.1 (64-bit)
  • Operating System: Debian 12 Bookworm

@hochhaus Can you please attach a screenshot with the info provided by typing about:support in the URL bar that shows the ADD-ONS section?

Thanks @softvision-raul-bucata.

This screenshot is from my original profile. Would you also like one from a clean profile?

@softvision-raul-bucata

Thanks for that. Ublock origin was imported in a new profile, most likely that is causing the issue. Please see the above steps in order not to include any data from the old profile, in the new profile.

Unfortunately, I don't think that is the case. I took that screenshot from my main profile. Here is the screenshot from my deleteme profile:

My deleteme profile also exhibits the (very) slow keypress behavior.

@hochhaus Thanks for that. This might be device-dependent, or some hardware dependent. (e.g Nvidia graphic cards). Given the fact that some users have reported the same behavior, I will move the issue to needsdiagosis

The problem seems to be fixed on 125.0.1 (64-bit) (125.0.1~build1) with my Ubuntu 22.04, but in the release notes I don't see nothing related with.
