URL: https://view.eumetsat.int/productviewer

Browser / Version: Firefox 126.0
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.15
Tested Another Browser: Yes Chrome

Problem type: Something else
Description: Slow pan and zoom after visiting another website in a separate tab
Steps to Reproduce:
When I visit https://view.eumetsat.int/productviewer initially interaction is super fast and smooth. No complaints here. But when I switch to another tab, it slows down significantly to the point where https://view.eumetsat.int becomes unusable. Refreshing the page helps.

I recorded a video describing the issue: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8qa4k60w4usvz5901188i/Screen-Recording-2024-05-22-at-19.53.45.mp4?rlkey=phau27d4me6fuvcnlwz2qeodk&dl=0

This issue isn't unique to the combination of websites I used in the demo.

I'm running:

  • Firefox 126.0
  • macOS 14.5
  • MBP 16-inch, 2019, 32GB RAM with AMD Radeon Pro 5300M 4 GB
Browser Configuration
  • None

Also, worth noting: the same issue can be triggered by visiting https://view.eumetsat.int/productviewer and hitting "GC" in about:memory

We appreciate your report but I was not able to reproduce this issue. I was able to navigate on page as expected after I opened another tab:

Screen.Recording.2024-05-24.at.13.53.19.mov

Tested on:
• Browser / Version: Firefox Release 126.0
• Operating System: MacOS Ventura 13.6.1

Suggestions:
• Clear cache/data/cookies, disable Ad-blocker (if available), or create a new profile (without syncing/importing data) and check again
• If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about:config), please revert to the default settings

Hey! Thank you for investigating this issue. Have you tried forcing this issue to happen using about:memory page, where you can force GC?

@softvision-raul-bucata

@klizas So it happens only if you do that? It does not happen when normally accessing the page?
