URL: https://www.twitch.tv/zfg1

Browser / Version: Firefox 70
Operating System: Linux
Tested Another Browser: No

Problem type: Something else
Description: Tobii Ghost Eye Tracker Does Not Support Firefox
Steps to Reproduce:
The Tobii Ghost eye tracker extension (used by the streamer I linked) doesn't support Firefox (only supports Edge/Opera/Chrome). Switch user agent to Chrome and it magically works anyways.

Browser Configuration
  • None

Thanks for the report! Unfortunately, Extensions issues are not compat issues.

For this project we try to focus our effort on layouts, features or content that works as expected in one browser but not in another.
Closing the issue as Non-compat.

The thing is, this isn't a browser extension all. This is an "extension" on Twitch. As far as I can tell the streamer has to turn it on and then it will be available to everybody viewing their stream automatically. So this is still a website (content) issue.

@softvision-sergiulogigan

I wonder if it's reproducible on Chrome also.
Could you please confirm, @PJB3005 ?

No, it works fine in Chromium:

(Just using a random twitch streamer for this, they have a list of active streamers on their website)

In Firefox, without user agent switch:

Firefox, user agent pretending to be Chrome:

So they have a comment saying that they work on making it available for other browsers.
with a link to https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006397493

I'm not sure we can do anything than… moving to contact ready. @PJB3005 Did you try to contact them?

I don't recall off the top of my head but I probably figured that I wouldn't get much more than "we know we're working on it" or whatever, so I figured reporting it here would be more productive.

@PJB3005 the only way to move this forward is to ask them to implement it.
As you are a customer, you have more weight than us.
https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

And if they need help, or they know their blockers, they could tell them here and/or open bugs on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ to see what is missing on the web platform.

I'll switch that to sitewait in the hope that you could contact them.
Thanks a lot for reporting.

It seems there are no updates on their side https://help.tobii.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006397493

Q: What browsers are supported?
A: Today the Tobii Ghost Twitch Extension runs in Chrome, Opera and Edge.
