URL: https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

Browser / Version: Firefox 96.0
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.15
Tested Another Browser: Yes Safari

Problem type: Site is not usable
Description: Unable to type
Steps to Reproduce:
Typing letters open find in page as well as typing it, this shouldn't be the behavior. Firefox should only input whatever I type into the game.
I noticed a similar issue in some other websites, where I type some text and it opens "find in page" instead of using website shortcuts.

This seems OP has accessibility.typeaheadfind turned on in about:config. Is it a default value on Mac?

If it helps, this is my about:config :)
I haven't changed anything AFAIK, but I can test different flags if it helps.
Thanks for the quick response, btw

Oh, I changed accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart to false and indeed that seems to the issue, but maybe the default behavior should be disabled indeed :/

We appreciate your report. I was not able to reproduce the issue:

2022-02-09 16 01 04

Tested with:

Browser / Version: Firefox Nightly 99.0a1 (2022-02-08) (64-bit)
Operating System: Mac OSX 10.15.6

@maxmousee Suggestion: If there are any changes made to the default settings of the browser (e.g. in about: config) please revert to the default settings and try again. The said config is set to FALSE by default, so changing it is expected to break the page using Firefox. Could you please confirm that with a new clean profile, the config on your side is set to FALSE and that the page works as expected with the default config?
What I would do usually to test this kind of issue, is:

  1. Type about:profiles in the url bar.
  2. Choose Create a new profile.
  3. Call it deleteme or anything you please.
  4. Then start it. (this one you will be sure that nothing is interfering, no ghost caching etc.)
  5. Test.

@myfonj Thank you for the input, much appreciated

Very interesting, I tested your suggestion and although accessibility.typeaheadfind.autostart is true (but accessibility.typeaheadfind is false), the issue is indeed non-reproducible, so I guess either I accidentally changed something, which is possible but I usually don't mess these settings too much or something else was affecting it.

Thank you very much for your quick responses, patience and for being so helpful :)
