Duplicate items displayed in Model Editor until refresh/re-enter the node

I recently ran into an odd issue where duplicate items are displayed in the model editor until the node is either exited and re-opened or the page is refreshed:

This is happening after I run a plugin which deletes and recreates all the nodes a few times.
