PhlyComic: retrieve comic sources

This module/library is intended for retrieving URLs to comics found on the web for purposes of linking and/or viewing. The comics remain the property of respective copyright holders; I do not endorse retrieving the comics for local storage, and request that if you create markup for displaying them that you link to the originals.

Requirements

  • PHP >= 5.3.3
  • Zend Framework 2 >= 2.0.0beta1, specifically:
    • Zend\Console, which is used for the console scripts
    • Zend\Dom\Query, used for some web scraping
    • Zend\Module, but only if you want to integrate this into a ZF2 MVC application

Usage

This module is ZF2 Console-aware. It defines the following console tools:

  • phlycomic list, which will list all available comics
  • phlycomic fetch comic --name, which allows you to fetch a single comic by name
  • phlycomic fetch all, which will fetch all comics at once and write to a single file

Comic files are written by default to data/comics/ of your application; you can change this by overriding the configuration; see config/module.config.php for details.

Typical usage will look like this from your application:

% php public/index.php phlycomic list
% php public/index.php phlycomic fetch comic --name=nih
% php public/index.php phlycomic fetch all
