Enhanced CD causes computer to freeze.

I have a CD single with two audio tracks and one mpeg-1 video file. I can play the cdda without problem in deadbeef and I can open the mpeg-1 video using VLC. But when I try to rip the CD with both whipper and morituri the computer freeze after about ten seconds and the CD tray can not be opened. This does not happen on any of my audio only CDs even though I am having other reported problems with ripping.

I am using Arch Linux with latest packages and the CD i tried to rip was:

Could you try to run whipper with in debug mode and submit the log? If the log isn't recoverable, could you try and remember the last message that whipper prints before freezing?

I would try running cdrdao and cdparanoia (and/or libcdio's cd-paranoia) against your enhanced cd, and seeing if either one of those freezes the computer.

I just think it was looking through the TOC and got to stage 2 of 3 if I remember correctly. I will try to rip it again and get back to you.

For how long does the machine hang? This doesn't sound like a whipper problem. CDRDAO can issue uninterruptable system calls that can block, so this explains why you cannot open the drive. But your entire system should not freeze. Is the CD mounted perhaps?

It was not mounted and the system completely froze.

I haven't run it in debug mode yet but another CD (Guns N' Roses - Lies, GED24198, GEFD 24198) freeze the at the TOC stage.
