Wire version: v3.29.4349
Operating system: Windows 10 Version 21H2

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. open Wire app on Windows on a portrait oriented screen
  2. note that the left half of the screen is dominated by contacts
  3. wish there was a way to resize this so the text on the right side of the screen was in a column that could be much wider if only given the chance.

What is the expected result?

  • Currently, the expected result is the columns on a screen that's in portrait mode (1080x1920 in my case) is almost 50% contacts on the left, 50% text on the right

What is the actual result?

  • the actual is mirroring the expected... up until my wish list to Santa comes through and I don't receive coal this year.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

I've seen a few other requests for this (from https://github.com/wireapp/wire-desktop/issues/new):

But they're now 5+ years old and it would seem that perhaps this isn't quite as high on a wishlist as it once was.

I'm assuming the reason for the width of the left column is the "Contacts"/"Conversations"/"Folders" icons at the bottom of the column keeping the column to be the width it is.

Perhaps if the three icons had the option of turning on/off the text description of each would allow for the left column to be reduced in side to just what it needs to be (i.e. whatever the length of longest name) without the need for logic/code to be added to allow for dragging the window to a random width?
