Hi! Welcome to Wizeline Academy: Alexa Skill Workshop.
To ensure a better workshop experience, please make sure you complete the prerequisites listed on this document before the event.
Before the workshop, complete the following tasks:
To create an AWS Personal Account:
- Go to AWS Sign In.
- Enter your email or mobile number.
- Select I am a new user.
- Click Sign in using our secure server.
The Login Credential page appears. - Enter your name, email addres, and password.
- Click Create account.
The Amazon Web Services Sign Up page appears. - Enter the requiered information to complete your sign up.
To test your AWS Personal Account:
- Go to Amazon Web Services.
- Select My Account > AWS Management Console from the top menu bar.
- Enter your email.
- Click Next.
- Enter your password.
- Click Sign In.
To create an Amazon Developer's account, follow these steps:
- Go to the Amazon Developer site.
- On the top menu, click Sign In
- Click Create your Amazon Developer account or visit this link.
- Enter your name, email, and password.
- Click Create your Amazon Developer account.
- Enter the requiered information to complete your registration.
To test your Amazon Developer's account:
- Access the [Amazon Developer's site]https://developer.amazon.com/
- Click Sign In from the top menu.
- Fill in your email, and password.
- Click the Sign In button.
We recommend you install v6.10.3 of Node.js. This is to avoid conflicts with Amazon Lambda.
To install Node.js using OS X or Windows, use on of the installers from Node.js download page.
To install Node.js using Linux, NodeSource's binary distributions.
To test your installation:
- Open your system's console.
- To get the version of Node.js, run node -v. The version number should be 6.10.3.
To install Git on your console, follow this tutorial.
Note: If you’re new to Git, don’t worry, we will cover everything you need to know during the workshop. Also, here is a cheat sheet from GitHub to get started. To test your installation:
- Change to the directory you want to use to download the Alexa Skill Workshop repository.
For example,
cd Documents
- In your command line, run git clone https://github.com/wizelineacademy/alexa-workshop.git. You should be able to see the Alexa Skill Workshop files in your computer.
If you prefer using a visual application for Git, we recommend GitHub Desktop.
