The Task Team on Protocols met online on 30/10/2020 at 13h UTC to discuss the agenda reproduced above.

  1. The Task Team members started the first session of the Task Team in the new WMO structure by reviewing the position of the Task Team in the new governance structure and introducing themselves. The Secretariat conveyed the desire of the Chair of the Standing Committee for Information Management and Technology to present an information paper on the progress of Message Queue Protocol (MQP) development for WIS 2.0 at the INFCOM session in 2021.
  2. The Task Team agreed to use github for formal discussions. A repository and github team were created to this effect. Task Team members agreed to share their github account names with the Secretariat.
  3. The Task Team reviewed relevant work done by the previous Task Team. Work on the MQP topic hierarchy, message structure and demonstration has progressed well and will be integrated into the workplan of the new Task Team. ( previous tt work was at a different github repository: https://github.com/MetPX/wmo_mesh )
  4. The Task Team reviewed its Terms of Reference and suggested a minor addition to point f) to include authentication and security.
  5. The Task Team reviewed its workplan and agreed to populate major deliverables as github issues as a way of structuring the formal discussion.
  6. The Task Team agreed to meet again in about one month’s time for its next session.
