Hi!
I have set up the filepath for the shopping lists to my nextcloud folder.
However the lists are not stored there. They are stored under /data/data/com.woefe.shoppinglist/

No problem here. I have set the path to:

/storage/emulated/0/Document/Notes/

(OS is latest Lineage 14.1 / Android 7.1.2)

Maybe a problem with the pathstring? There are @ and % in it when using the nextcloud offline folder.
When setting up a path on sdcard, it works. So I changed the title of this issue.

It's a permission problem. I can write the lists to the root of the external sdcard, but not to
the nextcloud folder there. I changed my nextcloud folder to the internal sdcard to get it
to work. Maybe the dev can do anything to write to paths on the external sdcard. Otherwise
this issue can be closed.

@mase76 what Android version are you using? I tried to reproduce your problem on Android 7.1.2, but did not succeed. However, I found two more issues (#7 and #4 ) that could be related to this.

Also, can any other app write to the Nextcloud folder on the external sdcard (e.g. a filemanager)?

I use Android 8.1.0 (Omnirom).
The external sdcard handing Google introduced isn't what most users expect.
You have to do a high effort to use it free. The folders in Android/data/...
are sandboxed afaik. It differs from using the internal sdcard folder. As I said
before, I changed my nc folder to this storage, and now it works as expected.
I don't know, if it is worth to fix (or workaround) this issue. Google seems not
to attach importance to a good sdcard usage.

I'll close this issue for now. I don't have a phone with an external sdcard slot and it seems the emulator does not support external sdcards either.
