Curate standard bindings for vim-like applications #40
Comments
Thank you for your recommendation. I think this is a matter of personal
preference and I don't think it's necessary to make an official one. I
myself am a heavy Vim user and I don't use any special bindings even for
navigation. I designed Workman to be Vim friendly, in that the most used
commands are more "workable" than other non-qwerty layouts. It just needs
a bit of getting used to.

thing I have in mind.

I understand, it is very personal and I won't push for official status
any more if you don't want that. However, I think this is an obstacle
for some users. If they decide that they do want to rebind a few keys
they will probably find it a chore to keep all of their applications
nice and consistent. I think my bindings are minimally invasive, and
make vim more comfortable without compromising the Workman feel.

I think that anyone who has ventured into the land of non-qwerty / Dvorak and adopted a boutique layout is not going to have any issues experimenting with their own tweaks. I don't think that anything needs to become official but I'm just some guy on the internet 😉. |

I would like to propose that the workman-layout GitHub organization endorse some standard Vim bindings for the Workman layout, and then curate a set of configs for applications with vim-like bindings. Check out my repository here to see the kind of thing I have in mind.
