It looks like Kap captures in a somewhat lossy format - yuv220, with limited range. Ideally it should capture losslessly.

Via ffmpeg, libx264rgb with full range, and crf=0 will be fully lossless.

Note that quicktime won't be able to play the resulting file, but it's useful if it's going to be edited elsewhere.
