Most effects grayed out, no plugins found #488
Comments
Try to remove GStreamer's cache folder |
Thank you so much! Deleting the cache folder and restarting PulseEffects has resolved this issue, and all of the plugins are found and working as expected. |
I was initially bothered by this on Ubuntu 18.04, only once. It's now much worse on 20.04 - Every time, Pulseeffects does not appear in pavucontrol and doesn't interact with audio in any way until I do as wwmm described in #488 (comment) - I believe I have to reload my presets every time too. (Edit: No, I don't have to reload presets - last configuration is reloaded) |
@colmoni at least on Arch Linux everything is fine. I suggest you open a new issue showing PE output when executed in debug mode |
Arch with Plasma here. I had to clear this cache directory after the latest update to pulseeffects. Symptoms included pulseeffects not listing any pulseaudio devices in settings and receiving the error (I've updated Arch wiki with this info so that Googling returns relevant results) |
I just installed pulseeffects on Arch Linux, and while I am able to set the audio output to "PulseEffects(apps)" and hear sound coming out of my headphones, most of the switches to turn on pulseeffect plugins are grayed out and cannot be toggled.
The only plugins that I can activate are:
Killing and restarting pulseaudio will let me toggle the previously grayed-out plugins and make changes in pulseeffects, but they have no effect on the audio and the graph at the top of the pulseffects window no longer displays any bars. Additionally, after pulseaudio restarts, the pulseffects audio output "devices" are no longer present on my system
Killing pulseeffects with pulseffects -q then restarting pulseeffects restores the pulseeffects(apps) output device, and all plugins but the ones listed above return to a grayed out, uneditable state.
Loading a preset places a checkmark next to the grayed out plugins, and changes the plugin settings, but everything is still grayed out and the preset has no effect on audio output.
This is a fresh install of pulseeffects-4.5.9-1 from the community repo in Arch. Additionally, the following optional dependancies have been installed:
I've also confirmed that the following are installed:
I've tried to run pulseeffects -r and dconf reset -f /com/github/wwmm/pulseeffects/ with no change on the next launch of pulseeffects.
The only pulseaudio change from the default configuation on this system was the addition of tsched=0 to the line load-module module-udev-detect in /etc/pulse/default.pa.
Running G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=pulseeffects pulseeffects in terminal outputs the following:
I've confirmed that gstreamer sees the plugins. Here's the output I get from gst-inspect-1.0 | grep -i calf:
And here's the output from gst-inspect-1.0 | grep -i lsp:
Please let me know if any additional information is needed. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appriciated.
Thank you!
