This pull request replaces the SVN PATCH REQUEST from June 7th 2011. It also fixes a dependency in the dependencies.xml

This patch is critical for all realms using split path repositories!
Because the current implementation has severe bugs and can produce errors in the filesystem.
This pull request REPLACES the SVN PATCH REQUEST from June 7th 2011.
It also fixes a dependency in the dependencies.xml
