Ethereum uses Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) for digital signatures (SECP-256k1 curve) which is based on Elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC), an approach to public-key cryptography based on the algebraic structure of elliptic curves over finite fields.
