The first problem is you need to use HelloWorld.xcworkspace once you have the pods installed. Then you will get a lot of compiling errors when building pods.

You need to examine your Podfile to make sure you have to the right version for your project.

I was not able to update my local spec, have you tried to remove pod 'SwiftDate', '~> 4.3.0' first then pod repo update --verbose and pod install --verbose?
