Panzer OHM Temperature Widget, written in Javascript for the Yahoo Widget (Konfabulator) Engine. Created for XP, Vista, Win7, 8, 10+.

This widget is now deprecated and is retained for historical reasons only, it still works but time moves ever onward - please use the VB6 version instead that you will find here: https://github.com/yereverluvinunclebert/Panzer-OHM-Gauge-VB6

This Panzer widget is an attractive dieselpunk Yahoo widget for your desktop. It is a simple temperature gauge that can monitor the state of the various components in your machine via the reported temperatures. It uses the Open Hardware Monitor tool to extract the temperatures. Functional and gorgeous at the same time. This Widget is a moveable widget that you can move anywhere around the desktop as you require.

The widget can be resized - Hover the cursor over the widget. Press the CTRL key and use your mousewheel up or down. The widget will resize dynamically.

To find out how the widget operates, simply right click and select Help and a full explanation of all the buttons and windows, is shown. The top left window is the maximum temperature experienced by the chosen sensor, top right window is the current temperature in digital form. The bottom right window is the current scale used. The middle button selects the scale. Hovering over any control should supply a pop-up explaining each function.

I took the screenshot photo. It looks like 1944 but it was 2004! The image above was shot at Beltring in Kent. I've had to do some serious photoshopping to remove any traces of modernity. There were lots. Addition of some grain, desaturation and addition of some light brown to give it a hint of old picture. I don't want it to look too old as it loses some of the immediacy.

All javascript widgets need an engine to function, in this case the widget uses the Yahoo Widget Konfabulator engine. The engine interprets the javascript and creates the widget according to the XML description and using the images you provide.

Built using:

RJTextEd Advanced Editor https://www.rj-texted.se/
Adobe Photoshop CS ver 8.0 (2003) https://www.adobe.com/uk/products/photoshop/free-trial-download.html

Tested on :

ReactOS 0.4.14 32bit on virtualBox
Windows 7 Professional 32bit on Intel
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on Intel
Windows 7 Professional 64bit on Intel
Windows XP SP3 32bit on Intel
Windows 10 Home 64bit on Intel
Windows 10 Home 64bit on AMD
Windows 11 64bit on Intel

Dependencies:

o A windows-alike o/s such as Windows XP, 7-11.

o You must have Open Hardware Monitor installed and running for this widget to operate.

https://openhardwaremonitor.org/downloads/

o Installation of the yahoo widget SDK runtime engine

Yahoo widget engine for Windows - http://g6auc.me.uk/ywidgets_sdk_setup.exe

Running the widget using a javascript engine frees javascript from running only within the captivity of a browser, you will now be able to run these widgets on your Windows desktop as long as you have the correct widget engine installed.

I have not included the Mac OS/X installation instructions as I am unsure whether the hardware monitor for Mac still operates.
