In addition to normal methods, use OS keychain as a primary persistence mechanism. Keychain entries are stored between installations, making them a good option in addition to Pasteboards.

Sorry this took so long. Got very busy. Built and tested with latest merged master code and prefixed the keychain class, as requested.

Be aware of this case, as commented on SO:

keychain can be restored to other devices if the user encrypts their backup. This can result in a situation where multiple devices share the same UUID. To avoid this, set the accessibility of your keychain item to kSecAttrAccessibleAlwaysThisDeviceOnly.
