What makes this different compared to the time we did it last month? |
The compromise has failed. The compromise was that we ID-Lockdown the RnD console so the HOS for example couldn't waltz in and do it all - but the entire room is still being pillaged, the toolboxes, the glass/metal, the parts, the protolathe is being used and wasting mats for trivial stuff. People need to keep out, and this has now got a service desk, will allow the scientist to SERVICE the department. |

This just seems excessive for people who already have access, or are later properly given access in the round. If they can get into R&D, then the additional doors aren't really going to stop them. |
Can I ask;
You have to remember, this isn't just about those who have access to R&D, it's about those who sneak in some how, which happens very often. |
What does the internal desk and windoor even serve for as a purpose? It doesn't keep out anyone with roundstart science access to the R&D lathe. If you're going to bring up people who sneak in or hack, they will already have an idea what the wires are based on the front entrance / side entrance by genetics / Experimentor door / or the testing lab area.
If that is part of your concern, then why is there a second protolathe on box by the nanites lab that is only one maintenance door away from access? |
Sure; why not? Double side-by-side doors look ugly here and are inconsistent with the rest of the map. I'd imagine a single 1x2 or 1x1 door would look better. Also; you have turned that area into a room meaning you now need to make sure it is separated via areas + make sure the light switch in there only impacts that room. |
Adds 2 doors to the research lab under permission 7
Adds a windoor and desk to service the department
Adds 2 different shutters with a button to the helpdesk, identical to the usage in robotics
Removed the shutters over the airlocks and removed button from the RD office
Prevents people just wandering into science R&D lab and stealing items on the side (metal, glass, toolboxes, etc) and wasting materials printing whatever they want.
My main is science at the moment and this is the entire departments biggest issue, the department is there to SERVICE the station, not be pillaged by them if they get in through an open door because it's open access.
