POS Awesome has an inbuilt Scale feature that will come in useful for supermarkets and other retailers that sell items that are weighted.

In these scenario the Scale system used by the retailer will print out the barcode for the purchased item. This barcode will contain the weighted quantity.

POS Awesome is able to read the code, parse the item quantity from the item and automatically calculate the amount.

The cashier does not need to key in the quantity, she only needs to scan the product and the item name, quantity purchased and the line amount is automatically brought up.

To use scales with POS Awesome, the scale items will need to have a dedicated starting number in the barcode digits

In the POS Profile you will need to tell POS Awesome the dedicated starting digits for scale items/products (Called Operator Code)

The ideal number of digits should be 3, maximum should be 4

SETTING UP THE SCALE BARCODE SYSTEM

POS-Awesome Scale Barcode is 12 digits number with 3 segments

<Operator Code(O)> - <Product Identification Code(P)> - <Unit / Weight / Quantity(Q)>

OO - PPPPP - QQQQQ OOO - PPPP - QQQQQ

  • Operator Code (O): Required to differentiate barcode from other barcodes / Custom Barcode (2 or 3 digits)
  • Product Identification Code (P): Item Identification Code (4 or 5 digits), But include Operator Code (O) when you key in the barcode in the item master like 7 digits. That's 99-01001 = 9901001
  • Unit / Weight / Quantity(Q): 5 digits for Weight / Units / Quantities - this is generated by the scale system

Ex: 990100101999 = 99-01001-01999

9901001 : Item A 01999 : 1.999kg
