BrainCaffe

This is a repository for building Caffe for Brain servers.

Step 0. Install required libraries

• MKL or OpenBLAS, etc...
  • Get MKL from https://software.intel.com/en-us/performance-libraries. (IPP and MPI may be useful. But, not tested)
  • Installing OpenBLAS:
    • Option 1) Build from source: get source from https://github.com/xianyi/OpenBLAS/archive/v0.2.19.zip, and run "make" and "sudo make install"
    • Option 2) Install pre-built (Ubuntu):

    sudo apt install libopenblas-dev

  • install gflags On OSX,

    sudo port install gflags
    

  • install glog from https://github.com/google/glog/releases/tag/v0.3.4 => done by running external.sh in external folder
• Matlab may be very useful with MatCaffe!
• See Ubuntu_setup.txt for detail info on setting Ubuntu servers

Step 1. Get Caffe code: Download official Caffe code from https://github.com/BVLC/caffe.

• Option 1. RC 3 version: to use code from https://github.com/BVLC/caffe/archive/rc3.zip (OLD)
• Option 2. RC 5 version: to use code from https://github.com/BVLC/caffe/archive/rc5.zip, use the script cprc5.sh. (OLD)
• Option 3. Caffe ver. 1.0: to use code from https://github.com/BVLC/caffe/archive/1.0.zip use the script cpv1.sh (RECOMMENDED)
• Option 4. Get the latest master version.

Step 2. Use these Makefile and Makefile.conf to build a Caffe.

• run "./cpv1.sh" to copy those files to ../caffe-1.0
